Safe Haven Avian Placement Services (SHAPS) was established in 2001 to provide much-needed services for captive parrots and companion birds in Florida, in cooperation with other regional animal rescue organizations.
Mission Statement
The epidemic of abused, neglected and unwanted companion birds stems from a general lack of knowledge of the commitment and care required for these complex, highly social, and intelligent creatures.
Our mission is to educate the public to better understand the selection, needs and husbandry of companion birds to ensure a lifetime of
happiness for both bird and owner. Safe Haven provides Rescue, Rehabilitation, Education and Adoption services to ensure lifelong enrichment for the companion bird experience.
